Wat character are you playing btw? As for "how to play", look at the opening scene in the title screen. Gives out a Tutorial!!!

Double Edit: Also for power attacks (called Smash Attacks), simultaneously hit the direction (Up/Left/Right/Down) with the "A" Button. Every character has 3!!!
