The fact that PS4 isn't backwards compatible, and that you have to pay to play online, + many parents thinking their kids should feel satisfied with their ipads and not ask for a console + the consolization of pc gaming with Steam, are all going to prevent the PS4 from selling like PS2.
It will win this gen by far, but consoles have become more niche these past years.
