Poor handling of a game deserves punishment like it or not, the game should not have had a massive delay to begin with especially as the U version was mentioned as early as 2012. Even if they put out a well done port bad handling on Ubisoft's part is still a slap in the face of consumers, a number of developers have been guilty of the same approach and then blame U owners when they don't buy their hack job test games, to give you an example I work in Media and Finance and if you cock something up it can cost you a lot of money only in the financial sector it's not the consumer who gets the blame it's you for messing up.
Gaming is the only industry that acts like the consumer owes them something even when they mess up or try something dodgy.
