I dunno, really. My 360 can connect to the internet just fine and I can play games like Halo 3 without any lag. With my Wii though... It's a different story. I guess I'm the owner of one of those first generation Wiis with internet problems and all. Sometimes I have trouble connecting to the internet but it recognizes the router.

I'm wondering, does it lag for you guys when you play against other people online? 

On rare occasions it does, but usually it's pretty good.  That lag seemed like your connection was being used since it seemed so periodic.
