I think I had the most fun I've ever had with MK8 just the other night. I got in a lobby with many other excellent racers, it was so hectic. You could finish toward the back of the pack and only be a few second behind first place. It only lasted a few races before there was change over and I was dominating, but it was great while it lasted.
