With regards to the Wii U/XBO sales performances, the holidays should be interesting regardless.

Either the XBO manages to start its turnaround on the basis of a growing software library with the bolstering of additional relevant exclusives as well as relevant third party multi platform titles that aren't coming to the Wii U, leaving Nintendo's future in the console space in doubt (Wii U/Nintendo is Domed threads to follow), or the Wii U will pick up a significant percentage of its overall annual sales over the holiday season as Nintendo's hardware always does, more so than SCE or MS does typically.

If that trend changes significantly (still should see brisk 3DS sales regardless of console sales), then the future of the Wii U is something that really needs to be reconsidered unless Nintendo is content to let it be another Game Cube.
