Would you rather have 15 million audience or 10 million? That is the choice of the developer. |
Indie games are not system sellers, but are surely a nice addition to the library. As well as enabling the store to have new offers every week.
You surely must understand that days of strongarming your business partners are gone, and that Sony in this case managed to score some big name indie developers not just by mailing dev-kits, but also by working closely to aid them during the development cycle, instead of MS who still behave like a bully, trying to assert their (now long gone) power to blackmail developers via parity clause.
It is not the matter of a few thousand dollars Sony or MS can make of each developer in royalties, it is a much larger matter of PR and positive word-of-mouth, because when dozens of developers publicly renounce XOne policies, it resonates much farther than the game itself.
