You see it time and time again. It always seems like the japanese gaming public are superinformed about everything going on in that market. When a future pricecut is announced, almost everyone knows about it and sales collapse until the pricecut takes effect. Same when new hardware iterations are announced, or special bundles.
It actually wouldn't surprise me if Vita beats 3DS sales on a weekly level until New 3DS arrives, despite strong software releases for 3DS inbetween now and that launch.
