Because people are humans. And humans like to complain about bullshit all the time.
Tbh how is Captain falcon any different from a sword fighter? He also has short range attacks. If someone would use a pole instead of a sword people would also not complain.
Btw how come noone ever complained about the characters that just use their hands? We even have a new one this time LittleMac
