Crossovers - a good trend?

I don't like the trend, in games or in the movies. Kingdom Hearts was awesome though, I'm not sure how it worked but it did, splendidly. Hyrule Warriors will be great for sure, but it's still basically a Zelda game, just with borrowed mechanics.
