The Wii sold so well because it was interesting.  For casuals the Wii was pure hype, and it looked like Nintendo managed it well and could do no wrong, but it was a ticking timebomb.  It wasn't as good to play as core supporters would like to believe, and it didn't create loyalty.

The old things that were interesting with Wii don't have the same value now, and Nintendo tried to create new interest with the gamepad but failed.  They have to manage what they have dealt themselves.  Core gaming Nintendo is back.  The Wii is gone, long live the U.

Design of a system is part of how it's handled.

And the Wii U's struggles are not the result of the Wii. They are the result of Wii U's confusing name, software droughts, awful marketing, poorly chosen first party offerings, and excessive price tag.

Yeah I don't know that the Wii screwed over the Wii U.  Maybe it did in some people's minds, but not for me.  I'm saying the Wii didn't build a loyal fanbase that was eager for more of the same.

Yes the Wii U screwed itself over in so many ways, so back to the topic why do we think it will bloom and beat the GC?  Or you're agreeing, Wii U is badly managed like N64 & GC, therefore don't expect it to do any better.
