The wii is essentially the PS2 right now. Replaced, almost obsolite, but with some games that fit the current demographic and can be easily ported. I suspect it will get a few more years of game releases, not that most of us will notice lol.

Since I used to track the ps2 game releases alot back in the day I would say it did not start getting around 6 game releases a year until around 5 years after the ps3 was released ( 2011 ), and that was a huge drop from 2010.

The PS2 was a beast though, im not denying that at all. I actually think the last wii release will be 2 years from now, no way it lasts as long as PS2.

How were the PS2 software numbers though during that period? In my head im assuming most sold 100-200k for a bit.

From 2006-2008 and to a certain extent 2009 most games sold preety well with most yearly games getting over 1 million. The norm though was something along 0.2 million though but this, with every console is too be expected. By 2010 though game releases decreased ( 158- 58 ) and while most sold something, only three games managed to sell over half a million. By 2011 game releases decreased alot (58-10) and the game which sold the most sold 130,000. By 2012 fifa and pes were the only games release dito for 2013 which are not tracked on this site and this year the king of consoles has reached oblivion.
