I do think that the term "metroidvania" has been misused in the OP.  I have checked the page and see nothing than suggests anything close to a "metroidvania."  Anyone with insight regarding this?  this term is definitely being thrown around too loosely these days.  For it to be a "metroidvania" you need to be able to go anywhere in the world right from the start, assuming you have the right ability.  Procedurally generated levels are by definition not "metroidvanias" for instance.

Hive Jump is one part Spelunky, one part XCOM, and all parts alien ass-kicking. I've bolded what the correct genre should be labeled as...not that it isn't a mixture of other things as well.  The only "metroid-ness" I see is in the graphic design.
