People only dislike it (at least from what I can tell) because it has its own exclusives without being a new generation of hardware, meaning that early adopters of the 3DS are punished severely.
I don't think people really care about Xenoblade, it's more about the knowledge that future games will be coming which are exclusive to the new 3DS as well.
