EDIT: Forgot to introduce myself, since this is my first post, if I remember well. Hello to the forum!!!
I am really pissed about Nintendo right now. I bought my new 3DS with A Link Between Worlds last year.
While the upgrade makes sense and is fine, I don't see it a good idea to split the user base and screw your customers that way. Upgrades are fine, but I don't have the option to buy an expansion pack, like for the N64, I need to buy a new handheld.
I wouldn't mind paying the upgrade if I can sell my 3DS XL for a good price but on the other hand I don't feel like selling my special edition handheld (golden and black for ALBW). Unless the new 3DS has some few exclusives I will think twice before buying one. Furthermore, Nintendo's new handheld could appear between 5 and 7 years from the upgrade, so, why should I upgrade when I can wait for the next gen handheld.
I don't mind Nintendo bringing a new revision of the hardware with better screen, more battery and even better 3D effect, but I don't like a little bit that they are fragmenting the user base.
I am a Nintendo fan (I have a WiiU and 3DS), but I don't find this nice at all. The revision is nice and needed: more buttons, NFC incorporated, better screen, better 3D effect, second joystick, etc. What I don't like is the fragmentation of the user base.
