Do you think it is a good idea for Nintendo to put out a new 3DS so soon?

I don't care so much about the new 3DS itself. However, I am frustrated that Nintendo is splitting the user-base into two sections, and creating exclusive content for this new version. I will no longer be purchasing Nintendo portables within the first few years for new machines, that's for sure.
