Magicmaker trailer shows build-your-own spell system, customisable wizards
An email comes in for 2D RPG-platformer Magicmaker. In it appear phrases like "total wizard customization," and "poisonous exploding suns". Also a number: 2,193,360. That, according to developer Tasty Stewdios, is how many spell combinations you can potentially craft in game. Naturally, I am powerless to resist.
Steam client beta update enables simultaneous game installs
A recent update to the Steam client beta has made it a whole lot easier to install multiple games at the same time.
Gauntlet reboot delayed, but only slightly
Remember Gauntlet? Not the arcade stand-up that made such a splash in the 1980s, but the reboot that was announced earlier this year. It was intended to be out on September 3, but that's not going to happen; fortunately, the delay is only a short one, and in the meantime there's a flashy new trailer to look at.
Humble Jumbo Bundle 2 Now More Jumbo, Adds 3 Games
By Graham Smith on August 27th, 2014 at 3:00 pm.
Last week we wrote about the Humble Jumbo Bundle 2, because it was the best haul of games we’d seen in a Humble Bundle in a little while. Now that bundle has expanded as planned, and the three new games added are all good too. Pay more than the average of $6.62/£4 and you’ll now receive Legend of Grimrock, PixelJunk Eden and Orcs Must Die! 2.
This on top of a bundle which already included Galactic Civilizations 2, Terraria, Crusader Kings 2 and more.
Shape Of The World Is A Growing Exploration Game
By Graham Smith on August 27th, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
Shape of the World is an “artistic exploration game where the world grows around you.” It’s being made by three game developers working in Vancouver: lead dev Stu Maxwell, who previously worked on Relic’s Space Marine; Athomas Goldberg doing “creatures”, who previously worked on animation systems at EA; and Brent Silk on sound and music.
And that’s pretty much all I know, except that the three GIFs below the fold – and the screenshots through on the game’s site – mean that I’m already in love with this dreamy, colourful, self-constructing world.
Valve Time Force: Super Time Force Now On PC
By Alice O'Connor on August 27th, 2014 at 10:00 am.
Super Time Force launched on Monday, while we were off enjoying the holiday (I sat in a park in St. Albans in torrential rain with a bottle of wine, because reasons), so have a reminder that it’s out.
The time-twisting shooty platformer’s port from Xbox is fancied-up, as one would hope. Capy Games bunged in a new mode and more levels, renamed it to make a most entertaining acronym, and also teamed up with some other folks who play loose with time, Valve. See, Super Time Force Ultra (what wags!) on Steam also has Zoey from Left 4 Dead and TF2′s Pyro and Saxton Hale.
