Can Smash DLC be done right? If so, how?

What was done for MK8 is ultimately much less complicated than what Sakurai would have to do for Smash characters because of balancing issues and all of that. If he does character DLC at all (which I honestly doubt he will), it'll probably be 3 or 4 characters for $10.
