I guess we're out of luck then. I get the feeling that, given how much Nintendo's pushing Smash and Mario Kart this holiday, we're really not getting any more info on Zelda Wii U until some random direct early next year... or in a more pessimistic scenario, until E3 2015. In fact, I feel that if they actually don't show anything until next E3, it might be because they're delaying it to 2016 indeed - but to be honest I'm not that pessimistic and I can't see that happening.

I don't think that they will delay Zelda to 2016 either. That would create a five year gap between Skyward Sword and Zelda U, which is quite a gap.
Hopefully they will show a sneak peak in a direct or two before E3 next year. Then at E3 they can give it a major reveal, with a major direct to follow. Release it October/November 2015.
