I feel like if you're going to be made trot through the same environment over and over and over (yes GTA I mean you) - there should be some new or conditional wrinkles to the environment where you're reading/interpreting/interacting with said wrinkle(s) has a direct impact on how you do. It shouldn't be something as basic as beating up a defenseless hooker in your car to get some cash/ wash rinse repeat. In a well created environment that is something you should be able to achieve exactly once in your life without serious in game consequences.
The environment/characters should remember YOU as well as you memorizing your environment.

Otherwise its a like GTA/Saints Row/whatever - a lazy, pretty , repetitive destructo-sandbox that I get bored with in 5 mins. The environment should stimulate more than just the urge to break shit and success should mean more than a single path to "win/collect the mcguffin".

"open world" destructoboxes and FPS's are the most uncreative tired old tropes to me at the moment.

I'm certain nintendo will endow the zelda enviroment with more intelligence and stimulation than what the stereotypical aimless "open world" environment implies. Curse all GTA clones everywhere !

Sorry about the rant :)
