The games will look a lot more basic if they have to run at 1440p 90fps stereo. Although I guess the way Oculus works is it will be 1280x1440 for each eye, which is still only the equivalent of 384x480 per eye or less compared to the usual 30 degree fov or less of tv sitting distances.

It will be great, but you won't be playing with Infamous SS or Drive club like visuals on Morpheus. Oculus Rift has May 2015 for release date, Morpheus unknown.

I have played around with the google Cardboard thingy on a 1440p phone and the pixels are pretty small.  The FOV is quite restricted though, around 90 degrees FOV it's like looking through goggles but the resolution is much better.  The effect of turning your head to look around is still as convincing.  I read the Oculus has 110 degree FOV.
