Operation Platinum Is Aiming To Get Bayonetta 2 To Sell One Million Copies On Wii U

I was going to get Bayonetta anyway. I have been hyped ever since I saw the e3 trailers for it.
I think this game will sell more than what people are expecting. Nintendo has had 'mature' games sell well before. Resident Evil 4 on the Wii sold over 2 million and that was just an enhanced PS2/Gamecube port.
Perfect Dark was a brand new IP that sold over 3 million on the N64.
The Nintendo console that sold the least amount in contrast to the examples I have given, was the Gamecube.

My point is, mature games do sell well on Nintendo... however generally only when the game is fully optimised for that console and also when these games are exclusive. People don't seem to be multiplatform buyers on Nintendo, but exclusives tend to sell well.

Also I don't think there is anything wrong with people trying to expose a game through word of mouth. That is how hype is made. People making Destiny threads, this is no different. It builds hype via the community.
Once more people start to pre order, the retailers will take notice and they in turn will start promoting more.
If there appears to be no interest, there will be little shelf space, less awareness and the game will likely bomb.
