Action and violence is not the only reason I go to see a movie. I have enjoyed many movies that were just about character's or that had a purpose besides just being a Summer popcorn flick. I see why CC is a good movie, and I know why 2001 is a good movie. I also know why I do not find it entertaining. Even if a movie is artsy or story driven, it does not mean it is not entertainment. It is just not my cup of tea. The same can be said for The Avengers and an old member here named Pezus. It was just not his thing. He did not hate it, but would probably not care to see it again. But I must say that I hated CC. I dealt with 2001 though, I just do not want to see it again. |
Obviously, but look at what brings in the big bucks past several years.

A person goes to movies for all sorts of reasons. People as in the general public have shown what they will support in large numbers. I am genuinely impressed when studios take on high concept works and back them financially. I loved "Cloud Atlas", but it is clear I am in a minority regarding it.
