Is 2D really more popular than 3D, or is NSMBU "selling" more because it's a packin?

For me the preference for SM3DW over NSMBU is night and day.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold almost 30 million copies. 2D Mario has always been way more popular than 3D Mario, on DS, Wii, 3DS and right now on Wii U. I think there's enough Wii U bundles out there for people to actually decide if they want to play the game that comes bundled with the console. But hey, there's nothing wrong with your personal preference!
