Death To Middlemen: Dirty Dozen Sale Direct From Devs
By Graham Smith on August 24th, 2014 at 12:30 pm.
Cass picked up on this in yesterday’s Bargain Bucket, but it deserves a post of its own. Show Me The Games are currently running the Dirty Dozen sale in which a 12 games are substantially discounted. What makes it special? These are direct-from-the-developer discounts, meaning Show Me The Games isn’t taking a cut and every penny you pay goes to the people who actually made the games.
The games on offer include Gone Home, Frozen Synapse, Infested Planet, Democracy 3, and some game I’ve never heard of* called Sir, You Are Being Hunted. That’s a good haul.
What’s Yours Is Mined: Cloudbase Prime
By Adam Smith on August 22nd, 2014 at 12:00 pm.
Cloudbase Prime is a first-person platformer with shooting elements. That’s a fine change from first-person shooters with ‘platforming elements’ in the form of a context-sensitive ‘jump’ button used once during a fourteen minute long singleplayer campaign. Originally created as part of the 7 Day FPS Challenge back in 2012, it’s a game about survival on a floating mining platform in deep space. Enormous robots are attacking the platform and your goal is to survive for as long as possible by propelling them (and yourself) from hex to hex. The key to your survival is not found in the barrel of a gun but in the terrain-manipulating Architect tool. The freshly baked alpha is free.
Dreamers Of Dreams: Sentris Early Access
By Adam Smith on August 22nd, 2014 at 5:00 pm.
Do you remember a time when msuic games were so rugged and wild that they required the use of a tiny plastic guitar peripheral? I certainly do. Some people formed bands during their university years and frittered away precious hours creating melancholy joy, entertaining the tune-hungry populace of bee-soaked university bars. Other people – people like me – perfected I Wanna Be Sedated on Guitar Hero while jumping up and down on a bed with a cig in my mouth. Health and safety be damned, this was rock ‘n’ roll and I liked it.
Rhythm games have moved on since then and Sentris, launched into Early Access seconds ago, looks and sounds absolutely delicious. And you can play it while sitting comfortably at your desk.
