Emulators themselves are not illegal. I know that for 100% fact. So if I purchase a Hyperkin, and then play actual cartridges purchased by me on the Hyperkin, it most definitely isn't illegal. I'm just wondering if people think it is worth it, or if I should may look for downloadable titles instead for the classic era, or if I should just purchase the consoles, and deal with them being less reliable. |
The emulator itself would not be illegal if not for the fact that they all require bios files from the original systems which belong to Nintendo/Sega/Sony which are all illegal to reverse engineer to then use as the core of an emulator program, I'm sorry but if you are using files from a console protected by law in something else you are breaking the law in most countries anyway.
