Why are some people defending Zoe Quinn?

I think the entire thing has just been blown stupidly out of proportion via an escalation of both sides.

I think one side originally had some gripes about the campaign to get Depression Quest greenlit, the pro-zoe camp accused them (rightly or wrongly, probably a mixture of both) of sexism. As a result of this the other side got defensive and dug up more dirt to justify position, then the Zoe camp launched more accusations of sexism and posts were deleted on Reddit which further drove the other sides' suspicions of being sensored and so on.

I think the thing has just grown to the point where the original players like Zoe matter very little anymore and it's two sides (involving thousands of people!) deeply entrenched in their views that are trying to scream loudly at each other through twitter, msg boards etc.
