Why can't other 2nd party Nintendo devs ever compete with RARE?

Well, the main reason is that Retro hasn't made as many games :p

Between the Metroid Prime series, the DKC games, and the help they did on MK7, I'd say they're on their way. A new IP would be nice, though.
