Starting with the idea that this means you picked the right person: not necessarily, for a small army of reasons.

As for why you should say, it's because it would be immensely helpful, to both us and to you. Speaking personally, I for one have to say I'm very much surprised that you're still alive, for one thing. But why so defensive all of a sudden? It's not like you're on the hot seat at the moment.
