I don't remeber Sony lying about numbers. There's a huge difference between don't be clear about numbers like during the Ps3 gen and lying. I guess that you have a source for a such accusation.

During the PS3 era they did misslead with shipped and sold, I remember them even saying sold to customers once before, and it was later revealed to be to retailers which they then claimed to be their "customers", they are trying so hard to explain themselves because they know what they lied in the past
Well the fact they have ldie may just mean they are lying now, although no one outside of Sony really knows
