When you're early in development and the single most important thing to get right is the netcode, then it's only sensible to put high end graphics in. It's the best way to test it!

You also have to remember that this stuff shouldn't really be playable, certainly if it had been publisher funded

What I am talking about is not high-end graphics. I am talking about visual direction. I've seen no sketches, concept paintings, preliminary level geometry, or character models leading me to believe that this will go anywhere particularly interesting.

On the technical side, I am also not sold on why this will be fun to play. They have a wealth of features planned, but how they come together to form anything fresh or different is unclear. To me at least. And it shouldn't be, as I see it.

Maybe they have a vault full of stuff that we haven't seen, that they're working towards, maybe that vault is the director's head, and people around him are trying to extract as much as possible before it's too late, or maybe they will all keep doing what they do best the result will be more than the sum of their individual efforts by chance.

I hope one of them happen.

Well then you just don't like the graphics style? Well I guess the game isn't for you then

It will fun to play because they're receiving tons of feedback to tune it and make it fun to play. What's really going to make the game stand out is the immersive nature and how you can seamlessly go from walking around Earth, go get in your ship, fly to a distant planet and start driving around your rover. There's no other game like that
