Here's the thing, and this goes towards perception.
Nothing we do matters. Morality is a sham. This man would rather us spend our time promoting the environment or curing cancer.
I say, leave those things to the inclined, and let me do my own thing.
Death is an inevitability.
The only thing we can do is live a fulfilling life.
If your fulfillment comes from laying in the bottom of a trash bin for 25 years, then more power too ya. If it comes from curing cancer or having kids or whatever, then go for it. If mine comes from videogames, then please don't judge my life. There is nothing more fulfilling, to me, than videogames.
I despise children, and I feel that procreating and family are remnants of the earlier days of our evolution.
Worrying about women's biological clocks, or this guys cancer cells, or some oceanic whale creature are not what makes my life enjoyable, nor does worrying about them make me a better person in my own mind.
Therefore, the perception that things are a "waste of time" are just that; misguided perceptions of a narrow and unintellectual mind.
If I wasn't playing videogames, who is to say that I wouldn't become the next monster of the century and destroy all the things that pinheads such as himself hold dear? Is "making money" his idea of a successful life? I would assume he assumes we are supposed to already know what his generalized and antiquated idea of a successful life is, and which activities he consitutes as "wastes of time" and which he decrees to be valid uses of our time. He obviouly assumes societies general perceptions match his own and that his readers would understand where he is coming from. I don't, but I can certainly speculate. Making money, curing disease, saving the environment, charity work. These are obviously his passtimes. With the exception of making money, which is expected of us in modern society, how many of us are going to put down our controllers and go do those things?
I could be offended if I weren't so much smarter and more experienced than he is, at the ripe old age of 26.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
