1. You guys have strange covos with friends. "Hey best bud! Do you know who Shiggy Miyamoto is? (Friend): "Hell no bro! Now Beer me!" ( You) "What about notch bro? You know Notch? Huh? You know him? Huh..huh..huh?" ( Friend) "Dude!!!! He is the co creator of one of the most imaginable games of our time dude! How could I and most of your closest friends not know this guy? Now BEER me or I am going to sucker punch you Bro!"
2. None of my friends know who any game people are. No one in the Military that I knew...knew of any game devs. Regular people do not know this stuff. They go to the store becuase they hear through word of mouth a game is fun or they saw it on tv. Then they buy it. Commercials do not say...From Legendary developer Notch, we have Minecraft! ON sale now at Target and Walmart, and that shit place Kmart. Buy today!
3. Regular people are not reading over gaming forums daily to learn as much as they can about ....not to be rude or knock something that i enjoy as well...but something that is meaningless. Gaming beyond mobile games does not matter in life and even though it is a fast growing industry, most would rather know what is going on in the world, what actors are doing, or follow their favorite sports stars than follow who made the Snow men in Banjo Kazooie. Or who made the latest Zelda soundtrack. They just want to play the game, and move on.
But I am glad I saw a glimse into conversations that some have with their friends! |
1. Ouch, that stung. Way to go, trying to insult me. I was expecting more from you to be honest. You know, i TOTALLY said that I talked a lot about Notch with my friends. *Sarcasm gone* now, if you read my post then you'ld see I said "I could have asked my friends who Notch is" key word for you there being could. This was cheap of you, really.
Now here's a shocker for you: I play minecraft occasionly. I used to do it a lot more a few years ago. And sometimes we happened to mention Notch, heck, sometimes "Notch" appears on the frickin title screen.
2. We haven't had a single commercial about minecraft in Norway, yet everyone here knows what it is. Actually, as far as I know there have hardly been any commercials anywhere about minecraft. It has, as you mention, been spread through word of mouth.
3. Minecraft is somewhat different. It's a social phenomenon, that has been spread through the world, and is now pop-culture. "Everyone" plays minecraft, (infact minecraft has outsold every single entry in a miyamoto made IP, besides Wii Sports. Currently 54 million, and counting.). Saying that more people know who Shigeru Miyamoto is than know who Notch is, is just straight out wrong. I know you wish that was not the case, but it is.
