Seriously the Skylanderd figures are successful because they have a specific game to go along with them, a game that is specifically aimed to be used with the figures.
As far as I know Amiibo doesn't have that, the only use that I know about for now is that in SSB, which I quite frankly find pretty pointless, you can't even play the Amiibo characters in the game.
I have doubts about Amiibos success.

Wait wat? The amiibos will be used for multiple games and its launching alongside SSB. Give it time, Nintendo hasnt stated how amiibos will function yet. Let SSB be the opening gates.
And wat do you mean by "you can't even play the Amiibo characters in the game"? Dont kno exactly wat this comment meant but all amiibos are playable characters in SSB. Lastly Amiibos isnt pointless in SSB. The same thing should be done with pokemon but to a different extent :)

I mean that you can't control them, as far as I know the Amiibos only spawn bots in SSB, right?
And sure, you're right, we should give it time, but right now I'm just not convinced, at the moment it looks like something for the Nintendo collector to me, but not necessarily something that is going to be uber successful.
Also I'm wondering when Nintendo is going to unveil what the figures are going to do in other games.
