Yeaa, I get the point of those threads and they shouldn't stop being made completely cause response/mirror/parody threads are pretty funny the first few times but the issue is that after the first few times, it just gets annoying... Like, I remember one time, there was this argument or something that FFXV can run on a wiiU and then someone made a "mirror" thread that it can run on a ps2 and had a picture of shadow of the colossus which was pretty funny but like 6 threads later, it ended on that FFXV can run on a calculator or some nonsense and it kinda ran dry by that point loll

Imo, after the first few times, if people want to still make a response thread, they should come out with something more original than another mirror thread

The tricky thing is how to deal with them.

I agree that a blanket ban (on almost any kind of thread) stiffles discussion and the opportunity for sometimes amusing retorts. That said, sometimes they just get tired, are a clear attempt at trolling, are duplicating a thread that shouldn't have been made in the first place, or a combination of all of these.

So, do we simply leave it to Mod-discretion to lock them as we see fit, leaving Mods more open to accusations of bias? Do we ban them altogether? Is there some middle-way you can suggest?

Happy to hear ideas!

Maybe have like a 3 thread rule lolll. Like, after someone makes the third parody thread, a mod comes in and says that this is the last parody thread that users can make of this topic and any after will be locked and the user will be given a warning followed by a ban if they continue to make those threads. Or something like that. I am not exactly fond of banning people lolll but giving them a warning should do the trick unless they get way out of hand
