i made this thread earlier today and it was locked by a mod, but i got permission from the mod to repost as long as its not as antagonistic.. so here it goes. im gonna give this my best effort.

some people claimed SECOND COMING OF THE PS2! others (like myself) believed that it was a false prophet.

although it hasn't yet been a year since the release of the ps4 and xbox one, i think we have come a lot closer to answering this question. a lot of people believed ps4 was going to attain 60%+ market share and reclaim the glory of the ps2 days. with how things have been going in the industry, it seems obvious that its going to be a much closer race than it was in the 6th generation. even a closer race than it was in the 7th generation.

e3 was telling in itself. microsoft did everything right while sony.. well, sony was doing things that microsoft was heavily chastised for the e3 before. all the while, the majority went ahead and gave nintendo the win.

in the beginning, sony had everything going for them, and you know what? they have been coasting since. if sony weren't coasting all year, maybe ps4 would be outselling xbone and wii u combined, or at least close to it.

in the end, i believe we are looking at 40%-30%-30% roughly. hardly the second coming of the ps2.

was that better, everyone?

I have got a question for you. What really makes you think that it will be a much closer race? Because there is not a single piece statistical data that suggest me that. Do you really think that PS4 will sell only 25% more than XB1 or WiiU while it has ALREADY sold 80% more than XB1 and 35% more than wiiU (despite a year headstart). Do you have ANY idea about the annual sales so far? Let me break it to you.

In the first 6 months of 2014:

PS4 sold 4.25 million (58.4%)

XB1 sold 1.86 million (25.6%)

WiiU sold 1.17 million (16.0%)

-------
This is not so different than the cumulative average of the first 416 people above

PS4: 52.6%

XB1: 26.7%

WiiU: 20.6%

and even then, this is the most pessimistic scenario for PS4 due to incredible bias from some wishful thinking crowd who think xb1 can really sell equally worlwide at 40% as PS4. Well, it's one thing to think xb1 can match PS4 in US, but it is completely uncredible to think this may be the case worldwide. If anything, PS4 is guaranted to sell well above 50% for any sense of rational thinking
