They need to make a console that'll be financially sound. It needs to make money the moment it's on the market and it needs to be inexpensive enough (~200$, like you said) for people to not gawk.
I had no expectations of what the Handheld after the GBA would be, and I was extremely surprised, but in a good way. Nintendo needs to do that again.
(Also, it's 'potential.')
