I don't really like when people label religions as scourge or the worst thing that has happened to humans because there are religious wars.
Yes, people may have their opinions and speak them out but they should at least think about what religions did to our world apart from the negative news you read/hear every day. If anything, you should have learned that media is about shocking news and that the human brain tends to pay attention to bad things (danger -> experience -> learning).
Religion has made the world like it is now. I'm not even religious but I know it has shaped our (western) world. All the rights and freedom we now have were introduced by religion. It took hundreds of years because there was no Facebook back then! It had to spread around in other ways and people couldn't even read.
Even if you say most (if not all) wars and suppressions etc. is BECAUSE OF religion, you are simply wrong. People tend to say Christianity was all about suppression and power and shouldn't be supported in a modern world but this modern world only exists thanks to the ideas of religions and Christianity even tells you to stand up against rich and mighty people who abuse their power. Religion is not just Christianity, it's worldwide and in everything. And Christianity is not just popular bible stories most people "know" and like to talk about when they want to make a point against religion.
I'd say, let them figure everything out themselves. Sure, you can help but only as long as you don't harm even more people with your actions because you anger the violent people. Europe has gone through many revolutions and crazy things to become a stable and nice place to live. It doesn't happen in seconds, it takes decades. Don't put your own lifestyle, opinions and ways of dealing with arguments on other people, otherwise it's no better than suppression. They need to learn, act and develop themselves.
