Depends on a lot of things. Amount of content by release, the quality of the game overall obviously, and especially the marketing.
I feel like Nintendo wants this to be a major franchise, so I think they'll make a big deal out of the game when it comes out. From what I remember, a lot of non-Nintendo fans took interest in the game when it was shown off at E3 too, which is probably what they were hoping to do.
I personally hope/expect 2m+
