It's sad. Nintendo is to blame for this, and very few third party publishers even tried.
I said the same thing almost a year ago. Family friendly games (like Skylanders, Just Dance, Infinity), Sonic games and cheap tie-ins like How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is going to be what we'll be getting. I'm amazed that a lot of people didn't see this coming. I'm still somewhat hopeful that at least some studios will be doing a little effort if the Wii U has a great holiday, but I'd be a lot less surprised if this situation doesn't change.
Lucky for us Wii U owners, Nintendo's own games are spectacular (mostly). To me they are more essential than the multiplatform games it's missing. I'll eventually buy a PS4 to get a chance to play some of them too.
