I don't know if many of you know me but I am Xyro77. Best USA brawl Samus player and one of the 4 huge TOs (I run the WHOBO series) in the USA as well. I've been in competitive smash since 2004. I've seen/continue to see the dominance of Metaknight in the brawl scene(from a player and TO standpoint) and I can assure you that Bowser is not/will not become the next "metaknight."
The simple fact that Bowser is HUGE/HEAVY allows him to be shield poked as well
as juggled/combo-ed. Yes he's fast on the ground but his horizontal air speed is still pretty much typical bowser speed. He has no projectile and none of his moves have transcending priority (every move on MK but 1 had this). His recovery is also very very limited when compared to MK who had 6 jumps, a glide and 3 B-move recoveries.
Bowser appeared good at the SDCC, yes, but I feel it was mainly because DEHF (best brawl Falco player) has so much exp in smash games. Spacing, reading, predicting....etc all carries over from brawl.
I feel smash 4 bowser will be better than brawl bowser but will he be MK or anything close to it? No.
