You're severely mis-characterizing the situation. You should read Dan Adelman's blog (on dan-adelman.com) to learn more about what he did at Nintendo before being so judgmental.

He recognized the value of the indie gaming movement well ahead it's time and has supported a lot of indie devs in reaching their goals. Saying he 'begged and cried' is insulting -- he worked hard at empowering indie devs to monetize the Nintendo platform and getting some stiff-necked people at Nintendo to loosen up and embrace the indie movement.
