This story is essentially a straight rip from here

Again, it just seems like mixed messaging from Nintendo once again.  Wii U was designed for the hardcore player (fyi I don't identify as this and online usage is not on my "checklist") and Hyrule Warriors is specifically the "loveletter" to hardcore Zelda fans and gives them everything they want that couldn't necessarily fit into a traditional cannon Zelda game.  And yet no online multiplayer...

Am I wrong on the common sense of this move?  I understand that Co-op has some hurdles when it comes to online play since you ahve to communicate with each other (why I think nsmbw+u shouldn't have had online co-op), but here you have a gamepade and have a number of potential tools at your disposal:

  • The screen could be used to face chat
  • The screen could be used to literally see the other persons screen, vice versa (solves so many problems!)
  • You can voice chat with the gampad if all else fails
  • You could share a map and use the stylus to mark things on it
I mean the amount of creativity with the gampad in online multiplayer can be explore so much, and yet it's a missed opportunity for a game that actually could use it since it's aiming itself at the hardcore.  How hard is it to implement this functionality?  Do you think it's a question of Nintendo didn't have enough time?  They couldn't think of any worthwhile ideas?  It would have to much lag a la SSB?  Or do they actually think it would detter the experience?
