If anything, consumers have too much breathing room between releases. But I understand that retailers have been stocking minimal Nintendo products because of the balls-up with the initial Wii U marketing - Captain Toad can do without big competition to get itself noticed. I know people who actually think the Wii U has been discontinued, because it is just not being stocked in shops here.
And the various language translations would obviously take up more time, of course.
