Nintendo has sold them to retailers, but the retailers has not sold all of them to people.

I know what shipped means, and I know what sold means. Just saying that the OP says it's shipped, others in this thread are saying it's sold, and one post even asked the OP to adjust his post to say 'sold'.

So what I want to know - is where, with a link to prove it, can we find out whether these figures Nintendo have released represent shipped, or whether they represent sold.


From Nintendos point of view, they are sold.

And I say again, I get the difference between. We can't blindly assume these figures are shipped, because Nintendo have reported sold-through figures before. Proof from last month:

"Nintendo has given us confirmation that Mario Kart 8's global sell-through is approximately 2 million in less than a month, as announced by Genyo Takeda speaking on behalf of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata." http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/06/27/2-million-copies-of-mario-kart-8-have-reportedly-been-sold

So, for this month, are we actually 100% sure that someone at Nintendo said that these figures represent shipped to retailers? BEcause I've  just gone through all documents and can't find it either way. I want to know from those who think it's sold-through, where they're getting their info from.

If it is shipped, then I'm seeing a lot of apples and oranges being compared in this thread.
