Here it looks like it should... Safari on a Mac.
However when I use my iPad I have as a similar issue. A lot of people get avatars of different people, it's really annoying. But seeing as how like it doesn't seem to be a consistent issue, the fault's probably at our end. I haven't found a solution yet though.
