Lego City Undercover Review (Wii U)

Originality: Wow. Just wow. This game… is a work of art. It has the open world feel of some of the more popular games out there (Grand Theft auto, Arkham, Red Dead Redemption) and it combines it with a game STUFFED with hilarious references as well as original storyline development. This game also puts to shame most Wii U games with its use of the gamepad (the only other game I’ve played with this good of use so far is Arkham City: Armored Edition). The only thing working against it is the fact that there have been a LOT of lego games in the past 10 years or so and the overall style of the game isn’t very different from those.

18/20

Graphics: I love this games graphics. I love the character models, the buildings/strucures. I love how they combined good looking lego objects with more realistic looking objects (which looked good btw). Overall this was a beautiful game graphically.

9.5/10

Art Style: Though not unique by any means, (due to all Lego games looking the same for the most party artistically), it is the most refined looking of the series so far.

13/15

Story: When it comes to story, it doesn’t matter what type of story the game has as long as it is executed well. In this game, the hilarious nature of the game, the ridiculous characters in it, the connection between in game story plots and real life references makes this the funniest game I have played since my childhood (back when it took less for me to laugh). Sublime story!

 30/30

Game Interface: All hail this company for using the gamepad for all the data/maps/random information!

5/5

Controls easy and fluid or difficult and rigid? Extremely simple other than some of the vehicles (but that was the point for those vehicles I suspect). Who knew riding pigs could be so easy!?

5/5

Is it fun? More than most games I’ve ever played. This game has insane replay value as there are like billions of collectables/side stuff.
