Call of Duty 4 has sold around 5.4 million copies on the XBox 360 and counting. Halo 3 has sold 7.5 million copies and counting. Gears of War 2 has a lot to live up to with XBox 360 owners having a lot of shooters to chose from. XBox 360 owners are oversaturated with shooting games IMO. |
360 FPS games are not quite the same as other games when it comes to sales. Most Halo and GOW owners like to do deathmatches/lan-parties/online-play. When a new version of an FPS online-capable game on the 360 comes out, a significant percentage of the players upgrade. Why? Not primarily to have a new standalone game, but to get the new weapons, maps, etc. available in the sequel.
The same is likely to hold true for GOW 2... I want it not because I think the single-player storyline might be great (or even long)... I want it for the lan-parties I go to after it's out.
