Well the missions were somewhat short and straightforward; and it wasn't the biggest map I've ever seen either. It was a good size but not massive. Yeah it's just the beta; thinngs could be difference but still.

It's just the cost and the dev time which I don't get; you'd think it'd be packed with content but no doubt much of it will end up as DLC

I honestly expect more from a level-headed mod.

"Well the missions were somewhat short and straightforward"

It's a beta.

" it wasn't the biggest map I've ever seen either"

Again, a BETA.

"It's just the cost and the dev time which I don't get"

It cost less to make than people seem to think. Standard AAA budget. The $500M number includes marketing and expenses on future titles in the series. You should know this?

"no doubt much of it will end up as DLC "

There was just a thread about how games in 1996 cost $60. Considering that those games cost PEANUTS to make compared to what it does today for a identically priced game (it's actually cheaper today if you take inflation into account - which you should), then you realize that we are getting A LOT more for our money than ever before. So if they want to add even more, optional content after that then WHY complain?

People would have pissed themselves with excitement if they had the option to download more Mario 64 content back in the day. What to speak of Mario Kart 64 online. But noooo, we are so spoilt that we get used to all these things after a few experiences and then demand more.

You appear to be mistaken. If you've been following what I've been saying I think the game looks and plays brilliantly, but it's not "MMO-esque" as I expected when the game launched. Also; the problems with the mission structure which I have is likely to be the same in the full game if there is only 21 missions in the main game which feels rather light. Yeah there's a lot to do outside of that and I could spend many hours running around aimlessly no doubt. And yeah there are areas which are locked off but we can only see how much they add when the full game launches ofcourse.

As for the dev cost and the DLC practices, I'm not even going to get into that. But $500m is not an average budget at all and a game shouldn't release DLC at Day 1 or around Day 1; that should just be included in the game in the first place.

Again, the beta was great and the game looks great. It just wasn't what I expected from what Bungie have been saying and what we've been seeing from the game; but that shouldn't make it any less fun to play.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
