This is false. Demon's Souls only happened because one of the big guys at SONY Japan approached FromSoftware about making a new King's Field. Demon's Souls was also co-developed by SONY Japan and SONY now owns the IP. The only rejection from SONY was that they didn't expect the game to be big after it was revealed. Which shouldn't surprise any one because it did not get good press after its reveal. Many people, including ones on this forum said it looked boring and uninspired. Didn't help that what we we first saw was a laggy mess, either. The first shipment to Japan was only 40K and sold out quickly to SONYs surprise. It become a hit in Japan but they still didn't expect it to take off anywhere else. Then Atlus steps in and gets permission from SONY to bring it to the US where it did succeed and Namco followed for Eu where it did the same. SONY even admitted they regret not bringing the game over themselves.
